Christmas 2013

We had the best Christmas this year! I can't imagine how much better they will get when she actually knows what's going on and looks forward to Santa. Just seeing the look on her face when she saw the tree with her gifts around it was the best feeling; definitely one of the best perks of parenthood is seeing your child on Christmas morning :)

We had a full day of visiting family so we got started with Santa's gifts around 8. We then went to visit my father-in-law and Dave's grandparents at 11, my grandparents at 1 and finally Dave's mom at 4. Thankfully we don't have to travel long distances for family but it's still a full day of traveling around. We were all exhausted by the time we got home and were all in bed by 9:30.

I'm sad Christmas is over until next year but we did have a great day!

Now we are looking forward to Spring getting here ;)

Here are a few pictures from our day...

So long 2013, let's bring on the NEW YEAR!

16 Month Update

Another fun month has passed and we now have a 16 month old. She is such a fun little girl and I could not be more obsessed with her than I already am!

Weight
20 lbs-ish although she feels about 50 when you hold her all day long ;)

Diet
She went through a phase this month where she didn't want to eat anything which is totally not her! She's back on track now and will eat just about anything we give her!
Sleep
Well, she was sleeping from 8:30-7am but a couple of weeks ago she started waking up earlier and earlier and now we are waking up between 5:30 and 6:00 am! It calls for lots of coffee for mama. I'm not sure if it's molars on the rise but I hope this is just a phase!
Social
This month we celebrated Keigan's 2nd Thanksgiving. Last year, she was only 3 months old so she just hung out while everyone else enjoyed the yummy food. This year, she sat at the table and chowed down with the rest of us. I'd say she enjoyed herself although after our third (yes, we had 3 dinners!) dinner, she was ready to call it quits and go into a food coma. I'm so looking forward to seeing her on Christmas morning! I can hardly wait!

Personality
She has the best little personality. She loves playing with Sadie, her baby dolls, her toy kitchen, reading books, dancing, talking on her play telephone, playing with mommy's dishes, etc. When she's around people she doesn't know, she is quiet as a mouse and makes zero facial expressions but when she's around friends and family she babbles all day long and is her normal playful self. She doesn't cry around strangers, she just won't let them hold her which is totally understandable, I'd be the same way :)

Happy 16 Months, Keigan Layne!!

I Survived School with a Toddler

I officially made it through a semester of college with a child. Back in August, I was terrified to go back with a 12 month old. I didn't think I could balance everything out and still have plenty of time to hang out with Keigs  & the hubby. I'm going for elementary education so this was the semester before student teaching and going into it the teachers will tell you that they "own you" for the next 16 weeks which scared me to death! Haha!

Bye mom, have fun at school!!

The first few weeks of school were tough because I was trying to get our new life in a routine while doing homework and still keeping up with our house chores. I also hated leaving Keigan each morning but thankfully between my aunt and Dave's grandparents we didn't have to put her in day care yet. It was an easier transition leaving her with family rather than at a daycare. Once we got in a routine, it became easier with balancing out everything on my plate.

The good news is now I'm on winter break until January 13th so you can find me cuddled up with Keigan-- or dreaming of cuddling her while I chase her around all day ;)

15 Month Update

This sweet babe is 15 months old!

Stats:
19.3 lbs (5%) and 29 1/2 inches tall (50%)

Diet:
This past month, she was refusing her milk so I started giving her Pediasure in the mornings when she wakes up and she chugs it! She has started drinking her milk again so I think it had something to do with her teeth coming in since she has refused it in the past when she was teething.
She lovessss to eat! She will be your best friend if you give her food. The only think I notice she hates us broccoli.

Sleep:
She goes down around 8:30 and sleeps until 7am. I'll take it! She is the worlds shortest napper though, she'll take two 30 minute naps and be done. It makes it hard to do things around the house sometimes but I do enjoy every second with her :) She just doesn't want to miss out on anything.

Clothes:
She is mainly wearing size 12 month tops and pants. The 18 month clothing looks hugggge but that's what I'm asking family to get her for Christmas since she'll be 18 months in February. She's still in size 3 diapers. I feel like she's been in them for awhile!!

You can just call her Miss Attitude ;)

Social:
I've been in school since August and with the help of my aunt and my husbands grandparents, we haven't had to send her to daycare. She has gotten into a good routine with them which helps when I have to leave everyday. I will be off from school for 5 weeks in December and I cannot wait! I'm going to soak in every second!

Visiting our BFF's Kristin and Ry

Milestones:
She isn't saying many words yet, basically just mama and dada at this point. She understands a lot of what we say/ask of her. She knows Sadie, throw Sadie's ball, she'll point to her belly, head and nose when you ask, she'll hold up one finger when you ask how old she is, she'll meow when you ask what a kitty cat says. I love how she understands what we say but I just wish she would start saying more words! She has NO desire to talk, she doesn't get it from me! ;)
Keigan now has 8 teeth and we are patiently waiting for her molars to come in! I've heard many horror stories from these bad boys so I hope they are as quick and as painless as you can get for everyone's sake (mainly for Keigs)!!

See ya next time! :)

14 Months

I know, I know.. I haven't posted anything since her 13 month update. Just pin me to be the worst blogger ever! I promise to get back into it on a more regular basis once my schedule slows down! :)

Miss Keigan is 14 months old today! She is the most fun baby these days! She is so easy going, plays so well by herself (or with Sadie) and dances like it's nobody's business!

Weight
We go to see the doctor next month but I will guess she's around 20 lbs?

Health
No sickies here but I do think she has some teeth coming in because she woke up with a runny nose and has had her fists in her mouth for a few weeks now.

Diet
Girlfriend doesn't like to try new things! My aunt watches her some days while I'm at school and she tries to give her new things for lunch but she won't eat them! I wish she would break out and eat something other than PB & J sandwiches and Mac N Cheese for lunch!

Crying
Like I said, she's very easy going so the only time she does cry is when I leave her in the mornings to go to school. I HATE it.  I just want to turn around and never leave her. Now, she usually only does it when she's with my aunt. When she is with her grandparents, she does really well and never cries. Thank goodness :)

Sleep
Sleep is the same as last month. She takes between a 30-60 minute nap in the morning and in the afternoon and is in bed for the night around 8:30 and sleeps until 7ish.

Clothes
Most of her clothes are in the 12-18 month range but she does still wear some 6-9 month pants. Baby girls waste is teeny tiny so the 12 month stuff falls off her hips.

Social
A couple of weeks ago, our BFF's Kristin and Rilyn came to stay with us for the weekend. We headed to Oglebayfest and got some extremely cute pictures of the girls playing in the leaves. After we were through with sweating (it was 80 degrees in October, not cool Mother Nature, not cool!) we went back to my house and let the girls play with Sadie together. Keigan isn't around any babies so I loved seeing her play with Ry! It was the cutest thing ever! After the girls went to bed, Kristin and I enjoyed girl talk & wine. I'm so thankful for meeting her on IG, I don't know what I'd do without her ;)
Dave and I took Keigan to her very first Pumpkin Patch last week. We had the BEST day. We went on a hayride, went through a corn maze, picked our pumpkins, got fresh picked apples. It was just amazing having the day with just our little family.

How stinkin cute are these two?! I can't even take it!

Cutest witch I've ever seen!!

This girl is a dancer! When she hears any music, it's on! I'm gonna have to get her into some dance classes before too long. She also sings all day, every day. We may have ourselves the next Mariah Carey on our hands ;) Her other favorite thing to do right now is show off her belly. When we ask her where her belly is, she pulls up her shirt and gets the biggest smile on her face. She is so much fun these days!

Happy 14 Months Love Bug!!

13 Month Update

Holy long time since I've posted anything!!! Yikes!

An entire month has past since our little pumpkin turned one!? I must say this seemed like the fastest month everrr!! I started back to school at the end of August so my schedule has been so  busy! If I'm not in class, I'm hanging out with Keigan and Dave and then after she goes to bed then I bust out my homework so my days are full! I hate leaving this sweet girl 5 days a week but now the time I do get to spend with her is extra special. :)

Weight:
I'm guessing 18?

Health:
She had a diaper rash and runny nose this week. I think it's just from her teeth coming in! She has 3 coming in right now and her little gums are SO sore!

Diet:
Normally, she's the best little eater. She'll eat whatever you put in front of her but this week she was shoving away everything! Again, I have to think its her teeth bothering her. Since she turned 12 months, we introduced strawberries and peanut butter and let's just say she's my daughter because she LOVES both of them.
Crying:
I was so nervous leaving her with her babysitters while I went to school all day but she's great with her grandparents. She is finally warming up to my aunt that also watches her.

Sleep:
She has been going to bed around 8:30 every night and wakes up at 6:45 every morning! Her naps are really hit or miss. Sometimes she'll sleep for 45 minutes in the morning and afternoon and sometimes she takes a 30 minute nap all day. I guess it depends on how hard she's playing :)
Social:
She's been with her great-grandparents and my aunt a lot this month. We haven't done anything too exciting on the weekends just because of my school work. I'm looking forward to taking her to a pumpkin patch and doing lots of "fall" activities with her this year!!

One Year Check Up

We had Keigan's one year check up this week. As we were sitting in the office waiting to be called back, there was a 4 day old newborn that came in. I couldn't help thinking that was me one year ago! I can't get over how fast time flies when you are having fun! This past year was challenging, required a lot of patience and a whole lot of love. She has brought unending happiness to our family and is the best gift we've ever received! She's the gift that just keeps on giving ;)

On to her check up..

Weight & Height:

17.5 lbs (12%)
28 3/4 inches (25%)
We have a tiny little peanut.

Health:

Healthy, healthy!  The only time she was sick this year was in December when she had croup. We were really lucky in this department.

Diet:

Keigan is a tank. Best. Eater. Ever. She usually doesn't stop eating until we stop feeding her. She just goes and goes as long as there's food on her tray. She must get her eating habits from her daddy ;) She is drinking 2% milk from a sippy, 4 times a day. I will give her some water for her meals.

Crying:

The only time she cries is when she's overly tired or hungry.

Sleep:

Naps are really a hit or miss. Sometimes she takes an hour nap in the morning and afternoon and other times she sleeps for 20-30 minutes in the morning and afternoon. She sleeps from 8:30pm-7:00am every night though so I'll take the shorter naps through the day.

Clothes:

She is wearing 6-12 months and some 12-18 month clothes. Still wearing a size 3 diaper.

Social:

Her stranger anxiety isn't as bad as it used to be. I was worried that with all of the people at her party she would want me to hold her the whole time. Boy was I wrong, just the opposite! She was a little social butterfly, walking around visiting all of her guests!

Birthday Weekend Wrap-Up

Woah. I now have a one year old. Where did this past year go?! We had an extremely busy, fun filled weekend celebrating our little princess.
It started off Friday morning with a sprinkled doughnut cake. Girlfriend went to town on it.

After breakfast, we got ready and packed up and headed to the Pittsburgh Zoo.

Keigan's (& momma's) favorite part was the Aquarium. She loved watching all of the colorful fish.
When we got home, we got our favorite pizza and decorated all of the cupcakes for the party on Saturday.
Saturday morning we started bright and early (& still ran late!) with getting everything set up. Eventually we got everything under control and guests started arriving at 12:30. We got our party on for a few hours.. I'll let the pictures show you :)

After partying so hard all day, by Saturday night I was exhausted! I wanted to get everything cleaned up and put away before sitting down with a glass of wine and a movie with the hubs :) I thoroughly enjoyed that wine and movie. All the hard work for months prior planning her party eventually all paid off. We had a perfect day for a perfect girl!!
