Christmas 2013

We had the best Christmas this year! I can't imagine how much better they will get when she actually knows what's going on and looks forward to Santa. Just seeing the look on her face when she saw the tree with her gifts around it was the best feeling; definitely one of the best perks of parenthood is seeing your child on Christmas morning :)

We had a full day of visiting family so we got started with Santa's gifts around 8. We then went to visit my father-in-law and Dave's grandparents at 11, my grandparents at 1 and finally Dave's mom at 4. Thankfully we don't have to travel long distances for family but it's still a full day of traveling around. We were all exhausted by the time we got home and were all in bed by 9:30.

I'm sad Christmas is over until next year but we did have a great day!

Now we are looking forward to Spring getting here ;)

Here are a few pictures from our day...

So long 2013, let's bring on the NEW YEAR!

16 Month Update

Another fun month has passed and we now have a 16 month old. She is such a fun little girl and I could not be more obsessed with her than I already am!

Weight
20 lbs-ish although she feels about 50 when you hold her all day long ;)

Diet
She went through a phase this month where she didn't want to eat anything which is totally not her! She's back on track now and will eat just about anything we give her!
Sleep
Well, she was sleeping from 8:30-7am but a couple of weeks ago she started waking up earlier and earlier and now we are waking up between 5:30 and 6:00 am! It calls for lots of coffee for mama. I'm not sure if it's molars on the rise but I hope this is just a phase!
Social
This month we celebrated Keigan's 2nd Thanksgiving. Last year, she was only 3 months old so she just hung out while everyone else enjoyed the yummy food. This year, she sat at the table and chowed down with the rest of us. I'd say she enjoyed herself although after our third (yes, we had 3 dinners!) dinner, she was ready to call it quits and go into a food coma. I'm so looking forward to seeing her on Christmas morning! I can hardly wait!

Personality
She has the best little personality. She loves playing with Sadie, her baby dolls, her toy kitchen, reading books, dancing, talking on her play telephone, playing with mommy's dishes, etc. When she's around people she doesn't know, she is quiet as a mouse and makes zero facial expressions but when she's around friends and family she babbles all day long and is her normal playful self. She doesn't cry around strangers, she just won't let them hold her which is totally understandable, I'd be the same way :)

Happy 16 Months, Keigan Layne!!

I Survived School with a Toddler

I officially made it through a semester of college with a child. Back in August, I was terrified to go back with a 12 month old. I didn't think I could balance everything out and still have plenty of time to hang out with Keigs  & the hubby. I'm going for elementary education so this was the semester before student teaching and going into it the teachers will tell you that they "own you" for the next 16 weeks which scared me to death! Haha!

Bye mom, have fun at school!!

The first few weeks of school were tough because I was trying to get our new life in a routine while doing homework and still keeping up with our house chores. I also hated leaving Keigan each morning but thankfully between my aunt and Dave's grandparents we didn't have to put her in day care yet. It was an easier transition leaving her with family rather than at a daycare. Once we got in a routine, it became easier with balancing out everything on my plate.

The good news is now I'm on winter break until January 13th so you can find me cuddled up with Keigan-- or dreaming of cuddling her while I chase her around all day ;)
