41 Weeks

Hahaha! This is the best picture I got of her this week! She is SO over these weekly photos, can't ya tell?!

Well, another week came and went. Every week is more fun and you are learning new stuff every day. I look back on pictures from when you were just born and I can't believe how much you've grown and changed in 9 months. You mean the world to your dad and I and I can't imagine  life without you. 


We moved you up to size 3 diapers finally, that's a pretty big milestone in my book! I feel like you were in size 2 for a longgg time! Your eating hasn't been the best and I have no idea why. If I put you in your highchair your fine for a about 1/4 of the jar of baby food then you freak out! Like someone is physically hurting you, freak out. So I stop feeding you and give you some puffs and you are fine. I think you just like the puffs too much and think it's a treat and don't want to eat your fruits and veggies. I don't give you puffs anymore after your meals now, instead when you throw a fit I'll give you fresh fruit or steamed veggies. Sorry sista but you can't veg out on puffs all day! 


Your sleep is really hit or miss. One night you'll sleep the entire night and other times you'll wake up 2 or 3 times. I haven't been feeding you through the night, I've been letting you soothe yourself and put yourself back to sleep. So far, so good. 


You can stand up on anything and you find anything and everything to get into. I'm exhausted at the end of the day from running around and chasing you. You love, love, love walking with you Radio Flyer walker. Whenever I get it out, your little legs and arms go crazy! I'm convinced you will be walking far before your first birthday. 


This past weekend we had a girls shopping day with Kristin and Rilyn. We had so much fun with them and can't wait to do it again! You and Ry were such good shoppers considering we shopped for almost 5 hours! We even got you and Ry matching outfits from BabyGap. I can't wait to see you in them :)
We also celebrated your first Memorial Day.  Grammy was going to have a pool party/ cookout but since it was cold & rainy we had a corn hole tournament instead. You were so good and everyone was loving on you, as always :) 
We are getting our kitchen renovated finally!!! and you love watching the guys work. You will just sit and stare (I'm tryin to teach you it's not nice to stare) while they work, ya little flirt ;)

40 Weeks



We had to do a different approach this week since she would NOT sit still for .2 seconds. I'm not kidding, I will show you the attempted pictures I got with her little chalkboard. This may be the way it goes from here on out. 

Ok, now onto her letter... 

40 weeks?! Only 12 weeks until I don't have a baby but a toddler instead. I have started planning your first birthday party! Momma is on her game. It took me foreverrrr to decide on a theme, except it's not really a 'theme' more like 'color scheme'. More on that in a later post ;) 


We had your 9 month check up on Tuesday. We were both looking forward to this check up because you are all caught up on your shots so we could go and see how much you've grown and chat with the doctor. You weighed in at 16.1 lbs (20%) and are  27 1/2 in (50%) long! You are moving right along on your charts. The doctor was pleased & so am I. The doctor took my height and daddy's height and said if you continue the way you are, it looks like you'll be momma's height (5'5") when your an adult. 


We gave you fresh green beans & pasta noodles at dinner the other night. You ate them but weren't a huge fan like you are with fruit. You are more of a sweets girl, that's for sure! 


You've been sleeping great this week! Only waking up around 5:30 to eat and them back down until 7-7:30. I have been loving it!!! Thank you baby :) Your naps have been getting longer too. Instead of the 30 minute naps you were taking, you are now taking two or three one hour long naps. 


We went to the pool a couple times this week and you tolerated it. You weren't the biggest water fan I've seen but you weren't hating it. I hope the more we go, the more you will like it. 

You don't like the word no. Sometimes you will bite my shoulder or leg and I'll tell you no and your little lip curls and you start crying. Then you give me kisses. My heart melts. This may be bad when you're older. ;) 

You climb up on everything! You will be walking soon, I just know it. Once you get balanced, you take your hands off of what you were holding onto and just stand there for awhile until you realize you're not holding onto anything. You are already trying to take off when you get your balance. 

Baby girl, you are the light of our lives.

Our First Pool Day

We had the most beautiful day here today so I decided to bust out the swim gear and head to my mother in laws (which is only 4 houses down from us) for Keigan's first pool experience. Let me first say how awesome it is to have this amazing pool right down the street from us that is open to us any time of the day (it also has a stocked fridge with ice cold beer water, pop, juice, popsicles , etc.). Can you say SCORE?! 
Getting a baby and yourself ready for the pool is no easy task. Before we left the house I had to make sure she was fed, had napped and got her sunscreen on. I also had to pack snacks, towels, her floaties, sunscreen and toys. After spending all that time getting ready, I was really hoping it wasn't going to be a bust and she hate the water. 
The first round she wasn't to sure about it. She wasn't hating it but she also wasn't loving it. 






So we got out and sat on the side for a while until we momma got pretty warm and headed back in for round 2. 

Don't mind my maternity bathing suit. All of my pre baby bathing suits are wayy too small for my massive nursing boobs  ;) 

Round 2 was a hit. Girlfriend didn't stop kicking her legs and squealing until we got out. 


She has also started giving kisses. Oh em gee. I'm obsessed. But this kiss happened right after she bit my shoulder and I told her 'No'. I think it was an "I'm sorry kiss". I don't care, I'll take it :) 


I would say our first pool day was a success. I already can't wait for the next time!

7 & 8 Month Favorites

These past couple months, Keigan hasn't been into her toys like she was when she was younger. I'm not kidding when I say she would MUCH rather play with a water bottle over her blocks or stuffed animals. As I'm typing this up, she is climbing me like a jungle gym to try to get to the computer. So coming up with a list of items was a little more difficult. Here is what we've been using on the daily. 




1. Aveeno Baby FaceStick I keep this stick in my diaper bag at all times. It is small and super easy to put on. The only complaint I have is sometimes it's not easy to rub in and she isn't a fan of me trying to rub her face off ;)

2. Munchkin Baby Gate-  As soon as she started crawling we had to put up a gate on our steps. The door on it is nice and convenient for going up and down the stairs. It also attaches to the wall so we don't have to worry about her pushing it down. We figured it will be up for years (once she doesn't need it anymore, there will be another baby in the mix) so we Sadie better get used to it.  

3. BabyGanics Sunscreen- I also keep this sunscreen in her diaper bag. Since we are outside a good bit now , we always have to be prepared. I'm a big fan of the BabyGanics brand and this was no exception. 

4. Old Navy 2 Piece PJ's- Since Keigan started crawling we have been using 2 piece PJ's all the time! The footed PJ's were always coming up and tripping her. It was annoying me, I can't imagine how annoying it would be for her! & an added bonus? They are super cute!!! 

5. Tommee Tippee Bibs- These are catch all's for her cheerios and puffs. And we don't need to put them in the wash. Could they be any better?! 

6. Activity Cube- She LOVES her activity cube even if it is just to pull herself up and act like a big girl ;) There is so many fun things to do on this cube to keep her entertained for a while. 


I forgot to add our bath mat that we got about a month ago. Since she got too big for her baby bath we started putting her in the big tub but we needed a mat so she wasn't sliding everywhere. I found a bath mat on clearance at good ol' Target and it's awesome!!

9 Months || 39 Weeks

9 MONTHS?! 
(Excuse me while I go cry in a corner)
Weight:
I would say in the 16-17 lb range. We go for her 9 month check up next week to get her official weigh in. I'm pretty excited for the doctors this time since we don't need ANY shots! We are good to go until she turns 1! 
Health:
We have a healthy little peanut! She had a dry cough earlier this  month but didn't turn into anything. 
Diet:
Along with her baby food that she gets for breakfast, lunch and dinner, she has been eating more and more "big girl food". I'm not gonna lie, I get really nervous when she eats anything. I have a fear of her choking so I am not in a huge hurry for her to eat human food but I know it's gotta happen so we are doing it slowlyyy. She eats fresh fruit, pancakes, steamed broccoli, cheerios and graham crackers. I think that's all she's had so far? 
Crying:
She has her super-crabby-nothing-soothes-her days and they are exhausting. Thankfully, they don't happen often. She also cries when she is over tired and hungry. Just normal baby stuff. 
Sleep:
Ok, don't make fun of me but we just started putting her in her crib at night a week ago today. I talked to my blogger friend, Kristin, and read many articles on sleep for a 9 month old and decided she should be sleeping all night without feedings. She was waking up 3,4, 5 times a night and would cry when we would lay her back down. It was exhausting! We decided if she was in her crib, we could let her cry and try to soothe herself. It worked like a charm. The past 2 nights she has slept all night! Whaaaa? Crazy, right? I'm in heaven.
Social:
This past weekend I had my first Mother's Day. We had a day packed with family. What could be better than that? We started by going to breakfast with both of your Grammy's, came home and played for a while and then walked down to visit with Grammy A for a bit then we went to your Great Grandma's for more family time. It was awesome. 
Routine:
Our routine is the same as it was when she was 8 months. Nothing has really changed except she sleeps in her crib now. I will be doing "A Day in the Life" post once our kitchen is back in working order. 
Milestones:
She has been practicing standing a lot this past week. She will crawl up and stand on something until she knows that she is balanced and then just takes her hands off and stands there. She can do it for about 5-10 seconds. She tries to stand up when she's in the middle of the room, too. I'm not exactly ready for walking just yet so when I see her trying to stand, I have the urge to push her down. Is that bad?!
  (I don't actually push her down, FYI.)
 ;) 


On to her weekly letter..
Baby girl, you are 39 weeks old (aka 9 months!). I can not believe it. It has been the best 9 months of my life. You are such a little sweetheart, I can't take it. 


You are learning new things every day and it's so amazing to see. I am so grateful that I get to be home with you all day, every day to see all of your firsts. 


You are such a little adventure seeker. You love exploring and getting into everything. I don't know why we continue to buy you toys. You could care less about them most of the time. Now if we give you a water bottle or a dog toy, you could sit there and play for hours. 


Your new thing is bear crawling when you are on a hard surface. You must not like the way it feels on your little knees. You will be crawling normal and as soon as you hit a hard floor, you pick up those little knees and bear crawl. Let me tell you, that is a hard work out! I remember doing that in gym class and I'd be exhausted! Also, when you are crawling you will go face first into the couch or my leg (anything soft) to let you know that you're there and then stand up but you know not to do it with anything that's hard, like the entertainment center or the brick fireplace. Little smarty pants. 
You literally want to stand up and walk everywhere now. Crawling is just not cutting it. You can now sit back down when you are standing. Before  you would get scared and need someone to come help you sit back down but you figured out how to do it on your own this week.  


You have been sleeping like a champ in your crib. I'm a little mad at myself for not doing this sooner. I don't know if you were just uncomfortable in your pack'n  play or what but you are now sleeping all night! I didn't even think that was possible! 


I think your new favorite part of the day is when Daddy gets home from work. It is so sweet to see you light up when you hear his voice. Ughh, heart melting.

38 Weeks




I don't think she's happy with me. ;)


Time, please slow down. Baby, you are 38 weeks old and quite the little charmer. You have everyone wrapped around your little finger. Even with our my lack of sleep, you have been such a joy this week. You were a little chatter box and I kept hoping that "Momma" was going to come out but you must like to see me suffer ;) 

You LOVE to stand. You can pull yourself up on anything and once you're up, you stand there looking so proud of yourself. You have also been sticking your tongue out every time you are concentrating/ crawling. I love it. 

You had your first taste of dog food this weekend. Your dad and I were getting ready for the wedding and you were being 'extra' quiet and when your dad went to check on you he said you had green drool and food all around you. He pulled out a piece of food... Uhh parents of the year?! We moved Sadie's food since then ;) 

Speaking of food, you want to eat anything I'm eating. When I get something out of the fridge you come crawling over and sit there waiting for a piece. You are worse than Sadie! Haha. Your new favorite food this week is grapes! I think you would eat the whole grape if I'd let you. Instead, I bite the grape in half and let you take a piece of the half. 

Sleeping has been 100% crappy. This week we had one time where you woke up 2 times and actually didn't give me a hard time when I put you back down. Last night you fell asleep at 8:45 and was up again at 9:45 crying. I let you cry it out and after 20-25 minutes of you crying you fell asleep again until 3:00!!! It was a miracle! Every other night we were up 3-4+ times and you would cry and cry and cry when I'd lay you back down. Let's just say coffee was my BFF this week. 

You went to your first wedding this weekend. It was for one of Mommy's friends. You were awesome! You loved the choir and orchestra almost as much as everyone loved you! Everyone kept telling us how you were such a good baby and how beautiful you are. It never gets old hearing that! I think I tell you that a few hundred times a day but I love when everyone else tells us the same thing! 

You have out-of-this-world beautiful blue eyes. My fingers are still crossed that they don't change! Maybe we will have a blonde hair blued eyed beauty on our hands. I think daddy will be locking you in your room when you get older to hide you from all of the boys ;)

Sleepless Nights, Exhausting Mornings

I don't know what went wrong with our awesome sleeper that we had a few months ago. It has been pretty awful for a month or two now. I wish I knew that it was just a phase or a tooth was coming through because it's the not knowing why she's crying 4+ times a night that's killing me!!  
When I check on her, sometimes she's rolling around fussing and crying and I'll let her soothe herself back to sleep and sometimes that works and other times she will sit up and cry until someone saves her. The only way she calms down is if I feed her and I know she probably gets hungry through the night but 4+ times?! It seems when she sits up that she won't soothe herself and she has been sitting up a lot through the night. Last night she went to bed around 9:30 and woke up at 12:00, 1:30, 4:00 and was up for the day at 6:30. She fell asleep at 7:45 for a nap since she usually doesn't wake up until 7:15 or so. 
Every night doesn't look like this but more times than not it does. Are there any helpful tips from all you momma's out there?! Pretty soon I'll be drinking coffee all day just to keep up with my crawling, getting into everything baby my energy up. 
My coffee is now gone so please excuse me while I go fill up before little one wakes from her nap ;)

Summer Favorites

Since the weather around here has been beautiful (75 with zero humidity, ummm perfect right?!) I decided to put together some of our favorites for our {fun in the sun} days!

I'm not much a a make up kind of girl. My every day make up is usually just bronzer, blush and mascara with some chap-stick. In the summer months, I don't even do all of that! Once I get a tan, I usually just go with some mascara and chap-stick. Crazy, I know! I love, love, love this Maybelline Dream AirFoam foundation though. Since I still look like Casper, I have just been putting this on as my bronzer and it feels like I'm not even wearing any foundation. It's perfect for summer. I love the Baby Lips chap-stick since it has a little color to it and it makes your lips feel just like the name says, baby soft. And let's not forget about the nails! My new fav is Essie Playdate. It is such a fun color and I have gotten a ton of compliments since I put it on. 

The Starbucks tumbler is a no brainer! Perfect for keeping your water & Mike's Hard lemonade always cold. & if you haven't seen these Mike's Hard Lemonade Frozen drinks yet, you are welcome! My FAVORITE flavor is the Black Cherry Lemonade and when I saw these at the store, I couldn't get them in my cart fast enough! How perfect would these be to sip while laying by the pool?! 


We can't forget about the babe! She will be rocking a sun hat even if she hates it & shades every time we step outside. We can't risk her little noggin getting burnt. We also love the BabyGanics sunscreen, it smells good and is all natural. SCORE! I also got her these adorable sandals from BabyGap but her little nugget feet don't even come close to fitting them yet. I can already see it now with her painted piggies and those sandals.. oh em gee! I won't be able to handle the cuteness.

House Reno Update

It's been about a month since I posted that our house is a construction site. Well, I'm sad to say that it's a month later and it is STILL a construction site. It is driving me out-of-my-mind crazy! Our kitchen and dining room still have plywood floors (which is so fun with a crawling baby. Insert sarcasm here.) and we still have no rec room. We are getting our carpet installed on Monday so at least we will be getting somewhere with that. 

On my last update we were still unsure if we were getting new cabinets for our kitchen. Our insurance wouldn't pay for all new cabinets but they were going to pay to rebuild the base cabinets that were damaged from the water. We decided to see what the difference would be to get all new cabinets vs. rebuild the ones that we have. The difference came out to be $750.00! It was a no brainer to get all new cabinets! We have them ordered and they should be here no later than middle of May. And we couldn't get new cabinets without getting new countertops, as well. Excited would be an understatement for us!!! Since we moved in we have wanted to do our kitchen but it was also the most expensive room to remodel so we were putting it off until the rest of the house was done. To be able to remodel our kitchen for around $2500 is one hell of a deal! I can't wait to show you the before/after pictures of it all!!!
